Dear MKU Families,

The safety of our students is our number one priority. As always, we want to inform you of important issues within our school and surrounding community.

On Thursday, September 12, 2024, we became aware of a threat circulating on social media directed at Morris K. Udall, amongst other schools across the state. We worked closely with Isaac School District’s Safety & Emergency Preparedness Specialist and the Phoenix Police Department to investigate the credibility of this threat. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Please know that all threats to our school or students are taken very seriously and are investigated thoroughly by the Phoenix Police Department. We encourage parents to speak with their child(ren) about making the right choices and the potential consequences of their actions. We urge all students and families to refrain from reposting threats and rumors online and encourage them to report any suspicious activity or threats to their teachers or school administrators.

We understand that some situations may affect students in different ways, and school counselors are available. Please do not hesitate to call our office at (602) 442-2700 should you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to ensure a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for students and staff.\

Sincerely,

Garry Glay
