Today, we commemorate Presidents' Day, honoring the leaders of our nation both past and present. In observance, there will be no classes February 19, 2024. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 20, 2024

As we celebrate Black History Month, we want to highlight the leaders and milestones that have impacted education here in Arizona. Veora Johnson served as a devoted teacher for 17 years before becoming the principal at Booker T. Washington in Mesa, AZ. She was the first Black woman in Arizona to obtain administrative credentials in education and is widely respected for her remarkable contributions to public education in Arizona.

Isaac Middle School and Pueblo Del Sol Cheer Teams participated in the Valley Junior High Cheer Competition this past weekend. Kudos to Isaac Middle School for achieving 3rd place in the large division. Every student showed commitment and teamwork by mastering routines and collaborating effectively. We are proud of our Isaac students!






Happy 112th Birthday to the State of Arizona! On February 14, 1912, Arizona became the 48th state of the USA. Celebrating Arizona's statehood and Valentine's Day, Isaac expresses love and gratitude to Isaac Staff, students, families, community members and the State of Arizona.

ISD families visited Grand Canyon University to learn more about scholarship opportunities, career paths, and the importance of education. They explored different parts of the campus and had a positive experience while gaining insights on how to support their children academically.

Today we reflect on Toni Morrison, a Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist, editor and professor. She became the first African-American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Her novels have earned countless prestigious awards and have inspired a generation of future writers.

Our ISD Communications Department was honored and recognized with 7 Awards of Excellence from the Arizona School Public Relations Association for their diligent work on various projects that enhance communication, branding, and sharing our district’s story. We congratulate them for their commitment to keeping staff, students, families, and the community well-informed while highlighting the incredible opportunities available to our students.

Black History Month is a time of remembrance and reflection of civil right leaders and their legacies. Today we reflect on George Washington Carver for his dedication in pursuing education as he became the first African American to earn a Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to conduct research, teach, and provide farming strategies to farmers.

We are thrilled to share the amazing news that the Isaac Middle School Honors Band students were invited to perform at the Arizona Music Educators Association State In-Service Conference held at the Mesa Convention Center. The students' exceptional talents and ensemble were on full display, a testament to their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Families came together to witness this remarkable achievement. Congratulations to Mr. Salvador Rodriguez, Band Conductor of IMS, who was also recognized for his unwavering commitment to his students.

Our Superintendent Student Advisory Council (SSAC) held its first meeting of the month where they learned about civic lenses and intersecting perspectives. They are excited to apply the knowledge they gained during the meeting on their upcoming trip to Washington, DC. This experience will provide them with the opportunity to use their leadership skills and understanding of civic engagement in a real-world setting.
