Dr. Robertson began her teaching career in Glendale Elementary School District in 1999. She served as a classroom teacher and a special area teacher at Mensendick School before becoming an assistant principal at Bicentennial North from 2011-2014. She has proudly served as the Principal of Esperanza since June of 2014.
Dr. Robertson attended Arizona State University where she received her Bachelors in Elementary Education (Bilingual and Second Language Learning). She went on to earn a Masters in Elementary Education from Arizona State University with an emphasis on technology. As a passionate learner she went on to earn a second Masters in Adult Education and Distance Learning from University of Phoenix. Dr. Robertson also earned her Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University in 2011.
Under Dr. Roberton's leadership, Esperanza Elementary was awarded the bronze and silver distinction from the "Beat the Odds" institute in 2015, 2016. In the 2017-2018 school year, Esperanza earned the Beat the Odds Gold Award. This award is based on student achievement growth. Esperanza also earned The Superintendent's Award of Excellence for both Customer Service and A.C.C.T. in 2016. In addition, Dr. Robertson was recognized by the Secretary of Defense as a Patriotic Employer for supporting the Guard and Reserve. In 2014, Dr. Robertson and a team of Esperanza teachers wrote and submitted a grant proposal to the Arizona Department of Education which resulted in Esperanza receiving the 21st Century Grant in 2015. The 21st Century Grant provides funding for our after school classes.
Dr. Robertson is passionate about providing children with a safe and secure learning environment in which students develop both social-emotional and academic skills necessary for a happy and successful life. The Esperanza team engages in daily meetings with students to develop self-confidence, perseverance and conflict resolution skills. In addition, all students are provided with small group time that allows the Esperanza teachers to provide instruction that supports and challenges students at the appropriate learning level. Dr. Robertson believes that as a teacher and leader, it is our responsibility to ensure ALL Students Learn, By Any Means Necessary.
